A new research demonstrates benefits of learning to the physical and psychological health of human let us read…….
A new research established by the institute of education in university of London on the Wider Benefits of Learning (WBL) by covering different sides such as physical, psychological, community participation and citizenship, they found a magnificent effect of learning on these sides.
Professor John Bynner in Faculty of Policy and Society at the Institute of Education said that the researchers had found a direct effect of learning on educated people concerning their health, parenting and also their willingness to committing crimes.
Researchers say that education is a positive force for people’s health as for
National levels of health
Learning affects health
Researchers found that Children’s diet is affected by their parents’ education and knowledge of the importance of nutrition. In turn, their educational success is directly affected by whether they receive enough vitamins and minerals in their food. Also a US study found that 12 % of the decrease in the probability of low birth weight between the 1940s and the 1980s and 20 % of the decrease in the probability of premature birth could be attributed to increased maternal education
.
Benefits of learning is also extends to some diseases such as cancer as the research suggests that better-educated women are more likely to protect their health with regular cervical screening tests. According to the research the researchers estimate that between 61 and 213 cancers can be prevented for every 100,000 women who quit smoking because of their additional education.
The International research has consistently found that people with higher levels of education live longer
One study found that life expectancy in the Netherlands for men with the lowest level of education is 5.0 years less than for men with a university education. For Dutch women the difference is 2.6 years. For people in the US aged 35 in 1960, one more year of education increased life expectancy
By as much as 1.7 years. In Sweden, a study based on the national census demonstrated that 64-year old men with a doctorate had a lower mortality rate than those with a master’s degree. The masters’ graduates, in turn, had greater longevity than holders of bachelor’s degrees.
Health and committing crimes
Benefits of education are not limited to health but it extends to affect level of crime in the society as the research say that people with no qualifications are more likely to be persistent offenders. Particularly for men, the better qualified they are, the less likely they are to commit crimes
.
Parenting and education
The Millennium Cohort Study, which is tracking more than 15,000 children born in2000 and 2001, shows that the sons and daughters of graduates were 12months ahead of those with the least-educated parents. A second ‘school readiness’ assessment measuring understanding of colors, letters,
Numbers, sizes and shapes that was given to more than 11,500 three-year-olds found an even wider gap “13 months” between the two groups.
Researchers say that People who do well at school and who obtain higher qualifications tend to have children who do the same
Lifelong learning is good for us
Many other studies stress on the importance of Lifelong learning which is the continued educational experience that utilizes non-credit academic courses educational travel and community service. These studies identified many benefits gained by the lifelong learning as the Lifelong learning opens the mind, helps fully develop natural abilities, increases wisdom, helps in making new friends and establish valuable relationships and it leads to an enriching life of self-fulfillment.
Dear beloved, when we contemplate at the message of Islam we find that Allah Almighty differentiates between people who have knowledge and who don’t have knowledge as He Almighty says: (Say: “Are those who know equal to those who know not?” It is only men of understanding who will remember)
{Sûrat Az-Zumar – The Groups -verse9}, this verse was descended at a time and in a place where people were sinking in seas of illiteracy and underdevelopment.
In another verse Allah Almighty urges people to learn as He Almighty says to prophet Mohamed peace be up on him and to all humanity: (Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists)) { Sûrat Al-‘Alaq – The Clot –verse1}.
